Flickr Explore – awarded Feb 19th

Helena says
So I put up this little shot yesterday, on my flickr, because I wanted people to have a little update as to why I had been doing sl related things, but my flickr was not active. My flickr being inactive is rather unusual. Low and behold, I had a bunch of randoms favoriting the shot.

Due to the last time this happened, which you can read HERE, I sort of figured out what might be going on, so I checked and yup, I was in the Explore feature. Thanks Flickr Gods and analytical creatures. Thanks to all those on my timeline, that gave me the stats needed to get my silly little picture up on Explore. Sorta wish I didn’t have the words on there now, but that might have been one of the reasons if got so many clicks, haha.

If you are interested in what I am wearing, I have very mild credits on the actual flickr picture, just click it above.

Another Long Absence

While totally unintended, I had another long absence from this blog.

There was sickness, a killed by baby computer, lost data, as well as a few other things.

I should be set to go again. Just a blurb to let you all know what was up =)

My Absence

In late october I got into a little accident on the homefront, which gained me a major concussion. It took me a while to function properly again, as I was having issues standing, being in the light, going up stairs, or down them, extreme nausea. It was sort of like being pregnant again, without anything to look forward to in the end.

My partners began to notice that I was having memory issues, some long term, mostly short term.

I am still having issues with this, and probably will over the next 6 months.

I started back up in second life, as soon as I could deal with the computer and it’s brightness. Things are sort of sketchy. I have had to relearn most things, and blender feels like I am back to 2 years ago, in my learning spectrum.

I can’t remember many of my passwords, but luckily figured out my wordpress ones recently.

So bare with me, as my poor brain heels.

Where is that Stringer at?

Hey guys, I have been gone for a good chunk of time, due to the RL health issues of my youngest son.

I just got back home this past sunday, so should be back on a more normal blogging routine, when hair fair stuff gets wrapped up.

Just wanted to let you know, I didn’t ditch you all!

Flickr Explore – awarded May 27th

I got a little surprise when I woke up this morning, a picture I had posted on flickr, which was one of my random non blog, non store pics, had a bunch of favs on it. I assumed it was due to the few new group I had joined up into yesterday.

It took an odd comment, to point me into the right direction of exactly what had happened. I really wish flickr sent a message when things like this happens, or that the photo gets flagged somehow for you.

Anyways, here if the photo:

Kemono Helena

I was going to introduce you all to my furry self sometime in the near future, she doesn’t have much of an inventory yet, as the mesh body is very slight, and a lot of normal items can’t fit the avatar. This is the first outfit I have created so far.

Flickr Explore – Official Flickr Page

“In Explore” Flickr Group – This was how I actually figured out what was going on, go an invite to this for the picture.

Information on how to get a photo into Flickr Explore.

Going to do a little quoting, because I am still a little baffled as to how exactly this happened.

“Explore is Flickr’s way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time — usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute — That’s about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That’s only one image in every 17,000!”

So I am still not sure exactly how this happened. The only thing I can think of is that I didn’t put the picture in any groups. It got invited into a single one, that I have an admin on my followers list. One of the tips was to have your pics in less group. I think this is because the “interest” ends up coming from fewer sources, so when you get a lot going on on the picture, the data tracker views this as positive data.

All in all, this was a interesting thing that happened, and I learned a few things as well!

ZOMG – Lappy is back!

So it seems that the motherboard blew up, and it was a factory defect. So I have a lovely new motherboard, a nice clean lappy.

So happy!

Bad news tho, they obviously had to factory reset it, so I lost all my windlights, as those aren’t something normally put on data recovery, as they hide in system file folders.

This shouldn’t change my blogging too much, but it does mean I might have to change how I do my ads now. I had a special windlight I made for my store ads, and I often used it for blogging. The only known copy I deleted from my google drive. Like an big dummy.

All the bad aside, it’ll be good to be able to work quickly again. My old laptop, it took me 2 days to do 3 hours worth of sl stuff

Can’t wait . . .
