Hair Fair 2016 – Lightbloom

Lightbloom

My Daughter wanted me to be a Fairly Princess Ballerina today. I don’t always have the time to give in to her wanting to use my avatar as a personal barbie doll, but I found a wee bit of time today. I knew just the perfect outfit in my inventory, that would suit what I figured her aim was. While it might not be pink, haha, she was ultimately thrilled with all the goodies in the outfit pack. I never let her actually take over my avi, she is far too young, but she sits as close to me as she can, and oversees the whole outfit creation. This is a bit more tame, compared to others she has created, which suits me fine. If she had her way, I’d always be in pink, bows and ruffles. There would never be a spot of blood on my digital person again. The Horror!

I have always worn my own hair creations, ever since I decided that a Hair Designer was what I wanted to be. That being said, I don’t normally blatantly hawk my creations. They are simply worn and credited. Sometimes I will write a funny store story, but I don’t go “Oh, I made this, go buy it.”

So here we go . . .

Oh, I made this totally awesome hair, go buy it!

Haha, I am only saying it because it is one of the 5 styles I have created for Hair Fair, a yearly charity event, that I have participated in since the beginning of my store. A portion of every style goes to Wigs for Kids. That isn’t just my own styles, but every style that is on the 4 sims we hair designers are populating this year. There are also the traditional bandanas, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. I have 5 of those at the event as well.

I thought I’d add this hear, since this is one of the few posts I didn’t do a headshot. This set was released for Enchantment in May, and I did already blog it on my other blog, Free*Style, but it fit today’s theme perfectly, and the girl oooo’d and aaaaaah”d over them. She had much fun with the colour change huds. She always likes the Plastik items, cause they have a bagillion options(tho she still only ever picks pink, usually).

Hair Fair 2016 – To Dance with Familiars

LadyLight Koolhoven - Pixel Mythos - To Dance with Familiars - 1

One of my favorite things is to take fantasy elements and try to make them work for my ethnic looks. I get saddened when I see written content, blatantly stating that certain genres of characters should only be of certain body types and skin tones. I will admit, that before coming an official blogger for the Medieval & Fantasy Grid Crier group, my styles fell in 3 categories. Modern, Bumble Bee/Panda or Drow. When I was a drow, I was often the dark ashen skin colour. My Bumble Bee and Panda Girl looks were always with my regular dark toned skin. I will admit that I would go ethnically asian every once in a while. There was one skin maker in particular that I enjoyed, so would get her stuff for kicks every once in a while. I don’t tend to like looking at the traditional geisha looks on dark skin, that does seem really odd to me. I will wear other asian inspired clothing as I normally am though.

This is just random blabbery, for no particular reason. I haven’t been bashed or anything.

I took these shots at one of my favorite places in second life. It’s called The Outer Garden, and they just completed a reworking of 2 of their garden levels. So I decided to go exploring.  I fell in love with this one little area off the main track, and decided to do a mini, on location shoot for today’s post.

Adoness is at Hair Fair this year, with 3 new styles. I chose to show you my favorite of the selections, which made me feel all warrior woman. It is a mixed mesh style, with the braid being rigged, but the upper part of the hair being modifiable, which is super nice if you like wearing mesh heads. I just used the default shaved hairbase in the hud of my Catwa head, and tinted it to make sense with the hair.

A portion of all hairs sold at Hair Fair go to Wigs for Kids, so even if you don’t pick up this Adoness style, it is worth it to take a browse of the whole event.
